RYA Shorebased and Practical Yacht Training
The RYA cruising scheme takes the novice sailor through to accomplished Yachtmaster and onto commercial qualifications for those that wish to work in the industry. The key practical elements of the scheme are

These are supplemented by shore based theory courses for

Coastal Skipper & Yachtmaster Offshore
RYA Theory courses Day Skipper and Yachtmaster/Coastal Skipper are run each autumn 2 evening per week for 6 weeks plus 1 full day on weekend. Dates TBA - Subject to demand we also run VHF (Short Range Certificate SRC) courses.
RYA Practical Courses - These are available to club members (see schedule below) - In addition Own Boat Tuition is also available for suitably equipped boats.
Our training vessel is based in Plymouth for the sailing season. Krismar (Bavaria 38) offers course from her berth in Plymouth, with access to sheltered waters providing training in almost any weather, and the opportunity to visit the ports of Salcombe, Dartmouth, Teignmouth, Torqauay, Looe, Fowey, Falmouth and many selcluded anchourages of Devon and Cornwall. She will likely make the return trip to Portishead in the Autumn, giving an opportunity for "mile building" for those members wishing to progress rapidly to toward Yacht Master.
Practical Training Program 2010 All courses suitable for Comp Crew, Day Skipper and Coastal Skipper students. Courses are 5 days duration and can be a combination of 2 and 3 day weekends.
All subject to sufficient interest / weather -
£375 for 5 day practical courses
£75 per day for shorter duration courses
£585 for the 9 day Day Skipper intensive course.
